This tour will include a walking tour of The Guardian Building, a fully restored Art Deco treasure known as the cathedral of finance and Detroit’s largest object of art, The Fisher Building.
Detroit is home to one of the Top 5 art museums in the country – The Detroit Institute of Art (DIA). We will drive through the Cultural Center to see the many attractions this district has to offer locals and visitors alike.
No visit to Detroit is complete without seeing the birthplace of the automobile; the Ford Piquette Model “T” Plant. Learn about Henry Ford’s experimental room and automotive history.
The Boston-Edison area which was designed and developed by some of Detroit’s most prominent turn-of-the century citizens and auto barons. The district contains over 900 homes, the first homes in the current Boston-Edison historic district were built and occupied starting in 1905. Each home reflects the high level of design, craftsmanship and quality of building materials typical of the time. See the homes of the Fisher Brothers of Fisher Body; S.S. Kresge (Kmart); John Wagner, Wonder Bread Founder; Walter Briggs, Tiger Baseball Stadium and more including the Motown Mansion, were Barry Gordy Jr entertained music royalty in the 1960’s
